Live – 1 Walker Street
Pave Aways is pleased to be at the forefront of restoring Wellington’s former YMCA building at 1 Walker Street, a key part of Telford & Wrekin Council’s vision to regenerate the area.
This iconic Victorian structure, which has stood empty for over 15 years, is set to become a vibrant mixed-use space featuring nine high-quality apartments on the upper floors and a newly refurbished retail unit on the ground floor, a space that is ideal for a potential restaurant to support the night time economy.
Councillor Lee Carter expressed enthusiasm for the restoration efforts, saying, “We’re delighted to see work underway on this historic building, creating new living and retail space to make Wellington a vibrant and thriving community.”
Currently, work to insulate the roof has begun, with steels for the mezzanine being installed soon, along with the fireproofing of existing steels. New windows are expected in December, with work on both the flat and tiled roofs starting soon. Asbestos has all been safely removed, fireproofing in the basement is now complete, and tanking is underway.
