Project Overview
This new state of the art facility was built to enhance the services offered by Control Techniques. The project included the construction of offices, toilets and meeting rooms, together with the highly specified electrical testing facility.
There were extensive external works, including a network of concrete ducts which brought services from the plant room to the building, and the testing laboratory in particular.
The project was procured via a competitive tender, and Pave Aways co-ordinated and led the consultant team which was novated following contract award.
The building was predominantly a steel frames structure, clad with composite insulated panels. There was a large amount of curtain walling, predominantly in the office area, together with a large roller shutter door, and further curtain walling, into the testing bay area.
The testing bay also had a crane installed to enable the Client to lift and test large pieces of kit in the area.
The external works were predominantly carried out prior to the main construction works being undertaken. These included additional car parking for those currently on site (the footprint of the new building took up some of the existing spaces), and a large drainage scheme, including an attenuation pond. Part of the external works also included the re-use of the original pavings. Duration 49 weeks.
