Project Overview
This landmark project involved delivering a new state-of-the-art building designed with a familiar military feel for Armed Forces veterans to receive specialist care. It operates as an enhanced Outpatient facility focussed on providing veteran patients with a comfortable environment to attend their appointments (consulting rooms and day case facility) as well as supporting their broader wellbeing and social needs. There is also a café, clinical training rooms, a multi-disciplinary room, an innovative simulation lab that allows for comprehensive training as well as dedicated office space for those staff (clinical and administrative) who support the Veterans’ Service.
A corridor link connected the busy existing building to the new which meant that existing water utilities were able to be utilised, in addition to an extension to the electrical system that could rely on the existing distribution network, diminishing the need for new to be installed.
The project benefitted from a strong local supply chain involved with all packages, ensuring locally sourced materials and labour wherever possible, reducing environmental impacts.
Shortlisted for the Social Infrastructure Building of the Year in the British Construction Industry Awards 2023, it is testament to our commitment to deliver projects that go beyond bricks and mortar.
