Project Overview
This contract was awarded on a design and build basis for the new Main Entrance into the hospital. The main entrance was to include a new reception area, offices, meeting areas, retail space and a café area.
Works also included breaking into the existing main corridor, together with the demolition of the existing conference room.
As the hospital was to remain fully functioning whilst works was carried out, it was imperative that minimum disruption was caused. This meant that there was close liaison between the Hospital and our construction team. This was achieved via weekly and monthly meetings, but also informal meetings which happened on a daily, more informal basis. This informal basis was crucial in resolving any issues as soon as they appeared, and it would also act as a reminder for the Hospital of the upcoming activities that were going to be carried out.
The building was predominantly a steel frame structure, clad with masonry and rendered. The main entrance was double height, which enabled meeting rooms and offices, together with the plant room to be situated on the first floor. Duration 48 weeks.
