The new visitor and community centre we built in Newtown last year has been shortlisted for another award!
Hafan Yr Afon has been shortlisted in the Commercial Development of the Year category in the Wales Property Awards 2023.
The building, which was constructed for Open Newtown, is already shortlisted for Building Project of the Year and the Value Award in the Constructing Excellence Wales awards.
Hafan Yr Afon is a two-storey low energy venue that incorporates community amenities including meeting rooms, a café, tourist information and a base for outdoor activities.
More than 90 per cent of our sub-contractors and suppliers who worked on the build came from within a 20-mile radius of Newtown, providing a valuable boost to the Mid Wales economy and supporting jobs in the area.
Managing director Steven Owen said: “Hafan Yr Afon has been a great addition to Newtown in terms of the facilities it provides for local people and to the visitor economy.
“We are delighted that this has been recognised with yet another award nomination and we, along with the rest of the project team, will be keeping our fingers crossed on the night.”
The Wales Property Awards 2023 will take place at Cardiff City Hall on June 15th.
