We’re looking to expand our team with the appointment of three carpentry apprentices.
The two-year apprenticeships, starting in September, will involve working on our sites across Shropshire and Wales alongside a dedicated mentor to learn the carpentry skills involved in construction.
Tasks will include:
- first fix carpentry – roofing / joisting structures, framework, partition walls, staircases.
- second fix carpentry – internal doors, kitchens, skirting and finishing joinery
- learning to incorporate the use of correct tools and perform best practice construction site safety methods.
The apprentices will work towards the Level 2 Site Carpenter Apprenticeship standard and receive training in health and safety procedures, mental health awareness, asbestos awareness and manual handling.
Candidates should have a GCSE or equivalent in maths and english (Grade 4/C or above). An NVQ or SVQ Level 1 or equivalent in carpentry (Grade Pass/Merit/Distinction) is preferable.
Training manager Michelle Benjamin said: “This is an excellent opportunity to work for a well-established award-winning building contractor and learn a trade from our experienced team.
“We are looking for motivated individuals who are keen to learn and have a passion for carpentry with a view to a permanent role once qualified as a site carpenter.”
