One of our site managers Kevin Bowden has been inspiring construction workers of the future at a special Welsh careers event.
Kevin, a bricklayer by trade who has a degree in engineering, recently took part in the Careers Wales Virtual Career Discovery Week.
He was featured on a video talking about bricklaying and using maths and numeracy in the workplace. This was followed by a live panel discussion with Kevin and three other employers, which included questions from the students around using maths and numeracy.
Andrea John, Business Engagement Adviser at Careers Wales, thanked Kevin for his valuable contribution to the session.
She said: “Without the commitment of employers like yourselves we would be unable to bring the world of work to life for our students, so I want you to know how much we value you as partners and appreciate your support with events of this type.”
Bringing fresh talent into the construction industry is a key priority for us at Pave Aways. As well as giving career advice through talks to schools and colleges, we offer on site and office-based work experience to young people to sample life in the construction sector.
Our Build a Bench workshops, where people can learn hands-on construction skills, can also be hosted in schools. To find out more or book a visit, please contact michelle.benjamin@paveaways.co.uk.
