Pave Aways’ training co-ordinator Michelle Benjamin has been inspiring a new generation of construction workers through a mentoring initiative with the Department for Work and Pensions.
She has joined the Powys’ Mentoring Circles scheme that brings employers and young people aged 16-24 who are unemployed together to give them support and advice.
Michelle has already given a virtual presentation about the career options in the industry and will continue to work with the same group of mentees over the next few weeks.
We will also be offering work experience and the chance to join one of our construction skills workshops in Welshpool and Sarn, Newtown to those in our mentoring circle.
Michelle said: “Pave Aways is firmly committed to tackling the skills gap in construction and bringing benefits to those areas where we work. Being part of the mentoring scheme helps us to achieve that.
“It can be daunting not knowing where to start or how to get work experience in your chosen industry so we are only too happy to share our knowledge to make a difference to these young people.”
