We have made a special presentation to our site manager Elwyn Preece to mark his retirement and contribution to construction.
Elwyn, 71, stepped down earlier this year after 10 years with Pave Aways. He was presented with a personalised commendation from clients and colleagues in recognition of his contribution to the industry at the annual Christmas party.
Managing Director Steven Owen, who made the presentation, said: “Elwyn has played an important role in construction in the region, not just in his role with Pave Aways but as the former clerk of works for Newtown Council. In his time with us, he has been instrumental in bringing on a lot of the younger members of our team and we wanted to thank him for the contribution he has made to Pave Aways and the industry as whole.”
Barbara M Belfield-Dean, Bursar, Concord College: “Elwyn – you are an exemplar of loyalty, commitment, wisdom, leadership and humility, an absolute pleasure to work with and a true gentleman. Thank you Elwyn for all your work at Concord College and for delivering wonderful buildings which will be enjoyed by and benefit so many students for years to come.”
Brian Evans, former Pave Aways Managing Director: “Elwyn was a good Clerk of Works, smartly dressed, a good communicator and ambassador on-site, particularly with the bespoke unit construction, as he always had a pleasant manner and could communicate details and concerns in all directions ie client/builder/architect. Suffice to say we had challenging times with all parties involved. But our aim was always the same; achieve the programme time, provide quality build, record variations, maintain records – the list is endless.
“During my time as Clerk of Works on the Carno School project, Elwyn appeared on site to assist in the construction/setting out of the foundations, following on from that time I noted the huge amount of respect that various trades on the project had experienced with Elwyn over the years, not a bad word said anywhere. That in itself speaks volumes of Elwyn’s approach and achievements on the construction site.”
Charles Haspel, Invertek Drives: “It was an absolute pleasure to work with Elwyn again at Invertek. Elwyn’s hard work and attitude are an example to all and together with his attention to detail he delivered a brilliant facility for Invertek Drives. Nothing was any trouble to Elwyn and he was always on hand to offer group tours around the site regardless of the time of day.”
Llinos and everyone at Ysgol Glantwymyn: “We were very lucky to have such a lovely, kind and thoughtful project manager for the job here at Glantwymyn. Elwyn of all trades – and master of all trades. Carpenter, logistics manager, surveyor, painter, decorator, coffee maker! It was a pleasure having you here for those few hectic months.”
