One of our site managers Andrew Owen recently took part in two career days at Shropshire primary schools to give children a taste of life in the construction industry.
Andrew visited Cockshutt and Criftins Primary School in north Shropshire for the special events that were organised to encourage children to think about what they might want to do in the future.
He said: “I went along with a laser level for a few hours and we had a little play with it, levelling out some bricks here and there where they wanted to put a corner of a building. It made for some very interesting shaped buildings!
“We did a few other practical exercises as well and they were surprisingly interested in the maths side of my job so we worked out how many bricks it would take to build a house, allowing for some funny shaped windows and doors in strange places.
“It was good fun and hopefully helped give the children a few ideas about how varied the construction industry is and how many different jobs there are out there.”
